Madonna's World Tour Put on Hold as Serious Bacterial Infection Lands Her in ICU
According to Madonna's manager, the famous global popstar has come down with a serious infection, which has forced her to spend several days in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, his manager has assured the public that he is expected to make a full recovery.
Guy Oseary, in a statement, noted that Madonna's health is showing signs of improvement, but she is still under medical supervision and care.
Madonna, who is 64, will begin her 84-date tour next month. According to US media reports, he is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in New York City.
The celebrated pop icon planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his breakthrough single "Holiday" with his first ever greatest hits tour called the Celebration Tour. After performing her experimental and theater-based Madame X shows in 2019 and 2020, the tour was expected to mark her return to arenas and stadiums.
Unfortunately, some of his earlier performances had to be canceled due to knee and hip injuries. Madonna took to Instagram to apologize for canceling a 2020 performance in Lisbon, saying, "Sorry I had to cancel tonight, but I have to listen to my body and rest!"
Scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, Madonna's latest tour was planned to end on January 30 in Mexico City. However, her manager revealed that on June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection, causing all her engagements to be postponed.
The UK and Europe leg of his tour, which starts on October 14 and ends at London's O2 Arena, will now be postponed due to his health condition.
